This holiday came to us from the Soviet past. The builder's day appeared thanks to the Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Council in 1956. The date of the celebration is floating - traditionally the Builder's Day is celebrated on the second Sunday in August, when not only in Russia, but also in Ukraine, Belarus and Kazakhstan. In Ukraine, the name of this holiday sounds like "Day budivelnika."
History and features of the holiday
The history of the holiday is interesting. The authorities of the USSR drew attention to the catastrophic shortage of housing and decided to make this direction a priority. First there was a resolution on an additional holiday in the calendar, increased the status of builders, almost equating them to the military. And the construction of known "Khrushchev" began, by 1980 most of the Soviet families were provided with housing.
In August, also mark the Day of the military builder. The military construction troops are units of the army whose task is to build defensive structures in wartime and to equip the military units in peace. These units are usually very numerous and can be either independent or subject to some parts. The military construction troops are known to us under the name "Stroybat". The construction battalion existed in the USSR, there is no such unit in the Russian troops.
There is also Day of the road builder. It is celebrated in October and in 2013 falls on October 20. Good roads are the national wealth of the country and so far only a dream of all motorists. Road organizations perform complex work on the design and construction of new routes, repair of the road surface.

It is well known that good builders have always been highly valued and valued so far, because they create our homes, schools, hospitals.
