Brown sperm

Sperm (ejaculate, seminal fluid) is a white opaque liquid that is released from the penis during ejaculation. Sperm contains various components produced by different organs of the reproductive system of men.

Normal ejaculate has a cloudy, milky-white or grayish-yellow color, sometimes it can contain jelly-like granules. The degree of turbidity indicates the amount of sperm in the seminal fluid. Sperm of brown color - is not the norm.

Sperm color change

If the number of spermatozoa is low, the ejaculate becomes more transparent. Changes in the color of sperm are sometimes associated with the age of the patient and with the time of abstinence. If red blood cells are found in the ejaculate, the sample acquires a red, pink or even reddish-brown hue (hemospermia). If the sperm has a yellowish and yellow hue, this indicates the effect on the sperm of the existing disease - jaundice. Sometimes this happens when taking flavin, some vitamins, or with prolonged sexual abstinence.

Why does sperm turn brown?

Sperm of brown, dark color, brownish or scarlet speak about the occurred rupture of one of the blood vessels in the prostate, which can occur during normal ejaculation. In this case, the color of the sperm is normalized for one or two days. If the abnormal brown color persists for several days, then you should definitely consult with your doctor. Blood in the semen can indicate the presence of infection, trauma and, sometimes, cancer.
