Brazier made of stone

For a private house or cottage area the use of a portable iron brazier is not relevant, as it is used quite often, and it is not recommended to leave it outdoors (bad weather, thieves). In this case, it is necessary to establish a fundamental structure - brazier made of natural stone and brick. It not only allows you to comfortably fry shish kebabs at any time, but will also be a decoration of your recreation area.

What kind of braziers are made of stone?

The brazier made of stone can be simple, where there is room only for frying meat on skewers, and multifunctional - with smokehouse, barbecue, a niche for storing firewood, shelves and a table. The second option turns out to be more massive and its erection is much more expensive. That is why in dachas the first species is more common, and the second - in country houses with a large territory.

How to make a brazier from a stone?

For the erection of such a construction, an equal place in the distance from trees and structures, but close to the rest zone or the gazebo intended for this purpose, will fit. It is very important when placing it, take into account the direction of the wind in this place, what would not then be sitting constantly in the smoke.

After that, the size of the brazier is the foundation. In order for the structure not to move and not to collapse, it should be done by a thickness of at least 10 cm and by 20-25 cm more on each side of the length of the base.

For laying out the skeleton of the brazier take a refractory stone, and for the furnace - brick bricks. Before laying, they must be well soaked in water. When combining building materials, you need to use clay mortar. It should be mixed 1 part of a well soaked clay with 3 parts of sand.

After the completion of the main works, the brazier can be covered with a facing stone and a tiled area in front of it.

If a large structure is not included in your plans, but you can make a small round or square brazier made of stone. To do this, first lay out the first tier of stones according to the size of the iron grating we have. Stones do not need to be pressed tightly together, the gap between them should be 1-1.5 cm. It is recommended to make a frame with a height of 4-5 stones.

In the middle of the finished hole we put 3 bricks and fill the space between them with gravel. We put a lattice with legs on them. Coals will burn here. At the level of the upper tier of stones will be located skewers or you can put a grate.

The convenience of this brazier is that it is very easy to clean and, thanks to its small size, shelter from the rain.
