Black sand beach of Puerto Egas

The black sandy beach of Puerto Egas is on Santiago, one of the uninhabited islands of the Colon archipelago ( Galapagos Islands ). Tourists go here not only to see the unusual sand, but also to travel as part of the excursions around the island.

What is the beach?

In fact, nothing special. The beach is like a beach, only the sand on it is black. This is due to the fact that it is nothing but a black volcanic tuff turned into a shallow substance. Such sand is considered curative. It is especially useful in various diseases of the musculoskeletal system - arthrosis, arthritis, osteochondrosis. True, it is unlikely that such a long journey will be sent to a really sick tourist. However, prevention will not hurt anyone. Therefore, lying on the black sand is useful, and the photos are interesting.

Once the island of Santiago was inhabited, salt was mined here. Tourists who came to the beach can stroll along the ruins of the salt producing company, watch the sea lions, chameleons, lizards. It is not superfluous to go for a walk on the lava fields. Here they are special - with bizarre patterns, waves, furrows, folds.

What can I see nearby?

In addition to lions and lizards, one should observe and hunt for crabs. There are a lot of them. Bright red and very fast, they move along the shore. Here you can make a lot of memorable pictures - both on the beach of Puerto Egas, and on other white sand beaches. Very nice looks a combination of turquoise water and lilac-pink rocks. It shades all this white sand and the crabs along it.

The black sandy beach of Puerto Aigas on Santiago is definitely worth seeing when you go on a trip to the Galapagos Islands . The tour should be booked in advance or negotiate the possibility of this with your tour operator.
