Going to the only aquarium in Namibia promises many new discoveries:

  1. Sea water is drawn from the old pier, pumped through the filter system, before getting into the exhibition tanks. The latter have a volume of 320 thousand liters, a length of 12 m and a width of 8 m.
  2. Every day, the inhabitants of the aquarium feed. 8 to 10 kg of hake are fed into the main tank with predators. For mussels, seashells, sea stars, snails and small fish special feeds are prepared.
  3. Three times a week there is a very interesting action - divers go to aquariums and feed all the fish, which, incidentally, are very greedy. Visitors are always delighted with this spectacle and quickly click the shutters of their cameras.
  4. On the territory of the complex there is an observation deck, which offers a beautiful view of the surface of the ocean and the desert. It is visible from it and the lighthouse, built in 1903, and which was recently opened for a visit.

Features of visit

Feeding takes place daily at 15:00, diving-feeding - on Tuesdays, Saturdays and Sundays at the same time. The entrance fee is $ 2.23 per person.

Aquarium Swakopmund is located almost at the beach on the street Standard Street. From the railway station by car you can reach in just 6 minutes, and from the city center it is easy to get there on foot for 30 minutes.
