Angina pectoris

Angina is a vascular lesion, a form of manifestation of ischemic heart disease and atherosclerosis. In the first stages, when changes in the vessels are insignificant, seizures are rare. But gradually the angina pectoris signs which are considered in the article, reminds of itself more often, and attacks can disturb at rest. The absence of treatment can lead to myocardial infarction.

Angina pectoris - signs and symptoms

Anxiety can be associated with excessive emotional and physical stress, smoking, prolonged exposure to cold. The first signs of angina pectoris are pain and shortness of breath :

  1. Pain is the main symptom of the disease and manifests itself in almost every case. Its appearance is caused by damage in the heart.
  2. Due to a violation of the ability of the heart to contract, a person begins to experience a shortage of air, which is expressed by shortness of breath.
  3. Simultaneously with these manifestations, there is a feeling of fear and anxiety. In the recumbent position, the pain syndrome increases. Therefore, until the end of the attack, they recommend standing up.

What other signs of angina?

The symptoms listed below may not be observed in everyone:

If the seizures are disturbed at night, they talk about another form of angina that did not arise because of physical exertion.

Uncharacteristic signs of angina pectoris

You need to know that these symptoms are characteristic of cholelithiasis and stomach ulcers. Stenocardia is not characterized by the following symptoms:

The intensity of these or other manifestations can be different. It is necessary to pay attention to the appearance of new and changing character of the old signs. This may indicate the development of severe unstable angina leading to a heart attack.

Signs of angina in women

The nature of the course of the disease in female representatives may slightly differ from the classical manifestation of the disease. For example, instead of feeling squeezing, a woman feels a stabbing, sometimes even throbbing pain. Symptoms characteristic of ladies include pain in the abdomen and nausea. Such atypical signs of angina pectoris cause women to leave uncomfortable without attention, and do not turn to the doctor on time.

Angina pectoris - ECG signs

An important stage in the diagnosis of the disease is the ECG.

During the resting test, the ECG at 60% is normal, but often Q teeth are seen, which indicate a transferred heart attack, as well as changes in the tooth T and ST segment.

More accurate is the examination performed during the attack. In this case, a downward oblique or horizontal depression of the ST segment is observed horizontally and an inversion of the T-tooth is detected. After the pain subsides, these parameters return to normal.

Conducting stress tests on a veloergometer allows estimating the likelihood of developing myocardial infarction and detecting coronary heart disease. At inspection gradually increase the load, creating the need for oxygen of the myocardium. The obtained data allow estimating the ischemic threshold.
