About the role where you had to play face

The painting "Breathe for us" is based on real events. The plot of this tape immerses the viewer in the middle of XX century and tells of Robin Cavendish, who traveled across Africa, was infected with polio. The 28-year-old boy was predicted an early death, but he survived and became a hero of his time. With this diagnosis, Robin did not lie in the clinic, but lived a full life: traveled, raised his son Jonathan and was always surrounded by the care of his wife Diana.

About how Andrew coped with such a difficult role, because Robin after the disease was paralyzed except for the face, the actor said these words:

"You know, to play a character who expresses his desires and emotions only with his face, or rather with his eyebrows, is not as difficult as it seems. I had another problem on the set. My Robin could not breathe normally, but did it only with the help of a special apparatus. It was very difficult to learn this. Before the beginning of the shooting process, I even practiced this breathing technique, because from the very beginning I could not breathe properly. But this is my job and I get paid for it ... ".

Andrew spoke about the Coxsackie virus

After Garfield talked a little about his character, the interviewer decided to ask a question about how this role influenced the life of the actor and whether he could live as full a life as his character if he had been diagnosed as such. Here such words to this question Andrew answered:

"This role is very close to me. In my childhood, doctors diagnosed me with the Coxsackie virus. This is a very insidious disease, which, in some cases, leads to paralysis and death. Every time I hear a Coxsackie on the television or radio, I feel shivering, because I understand that I'm just lucky, and I can live a full life. You know, somehow I looked at the tape about disabled people who played football in special chairs and one of them told that the Coxsackie virus brought it to this state. I was so amazed that I even burst into tears. It was at that moment that I realized that life could have developed somewhat differently. Work in the film "Breathe for us" once again reminded me of this. "

Andrew said a few words about the love of his character, Robin

Those fans who came across the biography of Robin Cavendish know that despite the terrible disease beside him was always his wife Diana. In our time, such devotion is not often met, especially when a person is completely paralyzed. The fact that Andrew is delighted with this situation, the actor said these words:

"Unfortunately, we now live in a very difficult time. In our society, love can be one-time, which is easily sold. I was very pleased to play in my character, next to which was a loving and faithful wife. Looking at this wonderful couple, you realize that you can be loyal to one person and at the same time be insanely happy. I was so impressed by the history of Robin and Diana that I would like to experience similar relationships in my life. "

Garfield talked about how he was influenced by the film

And at the end of his interview, Andrew decided to tell about how his life changed after participating in the tape "Breathe for us": "

"Working in this film has given me new landmarks in life. I realized that even with the diagnosis that was given to my character, you can live a full life. It seems to me that quite often people give up early. Those who found themselves in difficult life situations, it is necessary to watch the film "Breathe for us". There you will see a man who constantly struggled with death for the sake of living and always bet on the second. It seems to me that in our society it has become a habit to take blows of fate for granted. I'm sure that by the example of Robin you can learn to reflect and live as you want. "
