Care for ampelian plants
Although most species came to us from hot countries, this does not mean that ampel plants should be placed directly under the direct rays of the sun.
For decorative-deciduous plants, there will be enough light if you place them immediately behind the window curtain, but not very far from the light, a maximum of 20-30 cm from the window.
Blooming ampel plants will best feel on the east or west window. Thus, direct sunlight will only reach them in the morning or evening.
The main tips for caring for roomy ampel plants:
- Placement of flowers on shelves or risers. In such cases, take care of a light pot (preferably plastic) and high drainage. Overdrying for an ampel plant is not as scary as its excessive watering. Arranging the flower at a height, you thereby placed it in the conditions of the driest air: periodically sprinkle the flower leaves with water. Once a month you can properly close the pot with a polythene and send the plant under the shower. Do not forget to periodically loosen the ground and remove its top layer. Flowering ampel plants do not tolerate anxiety during the formation of buds or flowering.
- Growing flowers in flowerpots. First, take care of the safety of the flower and your own: make sure that the fastenings on which you are going to hang the flower pots will be able to withstand its weight in the watered state. If you place the pot next to the window, no additional lighting is required. Try to arrange the pots in such a way that you can constantly check the condition of the soil and periodically spray the plants with water.
- If you planted a pot with a plant in a decorative pot, you should drain excess water after each watering, otherwise you will pour the plant.
- Periodically turn the flower different sides to light. Thus, the crown is formed evenly and the flower will not be one-sided.
- Transplant plants should be annually in new land.
- In the heating season, it is very good for the plant to put a container of water near the pot.
