The Al-Qasba Canal is located near Al Qasimi Street, in the center of Sharjah, 25 km from Dubai . It connects two lagoons - Khalidu and Al Khan.
History of occurrence
The project for the construction of the canal between Al Khan and Khalid districts was commissioned by Halcrow, which also dealt with modeling and cleaning channels, building four-story buildings on both sides of the canal, as well as roads and bridges through it. Al-Qasbu began building in 1998 and finished in 2 years. At that time, Sharjah was ruled by Sultan bin Muhammad al-Qasim. In the following years, his power infrastructure in the area was actively developed, so that on the waterfront there were cafes, restaurants, entertainment centers, etc.
