The Al Ain Zoo is located on the territory of the Abu Dhabi emirate near the foot of Jebel Hafeet Mountain . A huge space of 900 hectares was allocated in 1969 to open a natural park where animals could live in the most natural conditions. Here you will not find the usual cells: all cages are made suitable for their inhabitants, so that they feel comfortable and spacious.
Inhabitants of the zoo Al Ain
In total, 4000 animals live here, they belong to 180 species, of which about 30% are on the verge of extinction. The park supports their population and cooperates with other world zoos to maintain the animal diversity of our world.
The main territory of the zoo is divided into zones:
- "House of cats" , where there live various representatives of felines, characteristic not only for Africa, but also for Asia, for example, white lion, which refers to endangered species;
- "The house of night inhabitants of the desert" , in which special muted lighting is created, so that you can see those who in the usual day-time life will not get in your way. Owls, eared hedgehogs, rodents and other lovers of darkness are waiting for tourists here;
- "House of reptiles" : crocodiles, lizards, lizards, snakes, turtles and many other representatives of this species will seem to you in all its glory, basking on rocks or swimming in water.
In addition, there are interactive zones in which you can feed the giraffes with useful food: salad lettuce, carrots and other vegetables. From other entertainment - riding a camel, riding a special train past savanna animals.
Children's park
For children in the Al Ain zoo, there are many recreation areas , interactive sites. Among them, the most especial delight is the separate contact park of Elyzba, where you can pet and play with numerous pups of domestic animals and birds, such as llamas, camels, donkeys, sheep, goats, ducks, geese, chickens.
Here, children can feel themselves residents of these farms. They will comb, feed and care for the babies living here, and at the same time they will feel love for animals and will learn to appreciate the nature around them.
The flora of children will be introduced to a garden of plants, in which not only desert cacti grow, but fruit trees, flowers, majestic baobabs and other representatives of the arid climate.
How to get to the Al Ain Zoo?
You can get from Dubai in 1.5 hours by car, taxi or bus. The roads here are good, and all the way there are signs, so it is impossible to get lost in the desert. In front of the entrance there is a large parking lot, on which there are always available seats.
