Zofin Palace


There is a Slavic island in the center of Prague, where one of the most beautiful castles in the city is located - the palace of Jofin (Palác Žofín). It is a real architectural pearl of the Czech Republic , known far beyond its borders.

The history of the creation of the palace Zofin in Prague

This building was erected in 1832, and the name of its palace was received in honor of the mother of the then Emperor Franz Josef I. In the majestic dance halls, commissioned in 1837, royal balls, various concerts and performances were arranged. In 1878, the first solo concert of the Czech composer Dvorak was held at the Zofin Palace. Yang Kubelik also appeared in these walls. Here the works of Tchaikovsky and Wagner, Schubert and Liszt sounded.

At the end of the XIX century, the building of the palace was acquired by the government of Prague and rebuilt according to the design of the Czech architect Indrich Fialka.

How to get to the Zofin Palace?

You can get here by metro , going to the station Arodní třída. If you want to use the tram, then take the train of any of the routes Nos. 2, 9, 17, 18, 22, 23, and go to the stop Národní divadlo. The Palace is open for visits daily from 07:00 to 23:15.
