The needlewomen can find use for any material, including jeans. For example, you can sew an original vest from jeans. With what to wear a denim vest usually does not arise, you can combine it in different things, and in 2013, jeans vests are still relevant.

A vest of old jeans with their own hands: a master class

Before you make a jeans vest you need to prepare the following materials:

Before you can sew a vest from jeans, you can draw a pattern of a future waistcoat in advance on a piece of paper. Depending on the style of the model, the vest pattern of jeans may be different:

We sew a vest from old jeans:

  1. We take old jeans, erase them and dry them.
  2. Using a chalk and a ruler, draw a pattern. The basis of the vest will serve as pockets on the back of the jeans.
  3. On a sheet of paper, draw a heptagon, cut out. We transfer the pattern to the jeans. On the entire perimeter of the pattern, you should leave the allowance for the seam of approximately 1.5 centimeters.
  4. Left on the edges of the allowance bend inward twice. We pre-thread it.
  5. Stepping back from the edge of five to seven millimeters, stitching stitching.
  6. Similarly, cut out the pattern with the second back pocket of the jeans. As a result, we should have two symmetrical details, which will serve as the basis for the vest.
  7. Cut the jeans along the side seam. From the remaining parts of the pants, we need to cut two harnesses for our waistcoat. It is necessary to measure the distance from the neck to the desired point under the breast with a centimeter tape. Transfer this size to the jeans, add on all sides allowances on the seams.
  8. From the neck, the harness should be made narrower, about 3-4 centimeters wide. The upper side of the base of the waistcoat should coincide with the wide part of the harness.
  9. On the wide end of the harness we lay the base of the denim waistcoat, pin it with pins.
  10. Now we can use previously prepared stitching of the base of the vest. On it we begin to sew with threads. You can do this manually: in this case, the stitches should be as small as possible. The most convenient way is to stitch the waistcoat around the sewing machine.
  11. We try on a model a ready-made waistcoat. If necessary, you can adjust the length of the loops.
  12. For the neck we sew the harnesses together.
  13. Twice the rough edges twice and pin them with pins.
  14. We retreat from the edge of 5-7 millimeters and detach the product.
  15. On the remaining fabric of jeans we make the marking of the details of the back. We try on the waistcoat and measure the distance along the back. We transfer this size to the fabric, not forgetting about adding seam allowances. This will be the length of the vest. Its width should be the same as one of the sides of the heptagon, to which we will sew a detail of the back.
  16. Twice bend the edges of the back part, detach.
  17. To decorate the back, you can sew a bow of denim from behind. Cut out two rectangles: large - for the base, small - for the middle.
  18. Bending the edges, draw a large rectangle. A small rectangle is folded with the front side inward, we weak it and then turn it to the front side. It should look like the photo below.
  19. We form the bow and secure the middle with a secret seam.
  20. To the back of the waistcoat we sew a bow.
  21. The centerpiece of the vest can be left loose or sew a button.
  22. We thread the free edges. The waistcoat is ready.
