In the room conditions the following species are most often grown:

  1. Tradescantia white-flowered. A characteristic feature of this plant is the white stripes located along the entire length of the leaf. There are several varieties of such Tradescantia: laekenensis, tricolor, alba, aurea. They differ in the color of the strips and the main part of the sheet.
  2. Tradescantia riverine or myrtles. It differs from white with the following: the color of the bands (yellow, pink, lilac), the thin leaf form, the violet stalk and more abundant flowering.
  3. Tradition of Blossfeld. It is a large-leaved plant with creeping stems. The most common variety of such Tradescantia is the mottled form, in which the green-cream leaves are covered with a pink coating and can be a pattern of yellow stripes.
  4. Tradescantia zebrina or striped. It was named so because on the light green leaves there are silvery stripes shaded by a green edging.

Garden varieties of Tradescantia

  1. Tradescantia virgin. This is a low bush, with erect stems, at the ends of which grow purple or dark blue large flowers. They dissolve every morning, and in the evening they close and dissolve, turning into a gel that simply flows down.
  2. Anderson's Tradescantia. It is a hybrid derived from the first garden species. It is more resistant to low temperatures, which causes an increase in its popularity. The most popular varieties of this Tradescantia are: White, Azure, Bodily, Purple and Blue Stone.
