During its existence, the structure was used for various functional purposes. In 1811, the National Congress was located here and existed until the building passed under the authority of the Revolutionary Committee, it happened in 1813, and only in 1817 it again moved to the department of Congress and became the building of the court.

By the end of the XIX century in this building housed the central telegraph and post office. After several years of existence of the telegraph the building was decided to be transferred to the register of historical objects and to place in it the National Historical Museum , which functions to this day. In it there is the largest permanent exposition, having familiarized with which, it is possible to trace important facts from the history of the state. From time to time, additional expositions are placed for which a large exhibition hall has been specially allocated.
