Impressions after visiting Singapore will be incomplete if you do not look into the Temple of the Tooth of the Buddha. This sacred place is located in Chinatown, that is, in the Chinatown , and is not only a museum, but also an active church. There is a famous relic - the tooth of a god, found in 1980 in Myanmar.
Rules of etiquette
Since the Temple of the Tooth of the Buddha is a sacred place, visitors are not recommended to visit it in t-shirts and shorts, that is, in the most open clothes. But to cover your head with a handkerchief, as in Orthodox churches, there is no need.
On the fourth floor, where the main shrine is located - the tooth of the Buddha, it is forbidden to photograph, which is reminiscent of the sign at the entrance. If you missed this point, then polite monks will remind you. Well, and, of course, it is not accepted to loudly talk and laugh.

Sights of the temple
This shrine is built in traditional Chinese style in the form of a pagoda in several floors in the Tang Dynasty style. The temple itself was built not so long ago - in 2007, but it looks rather old. In spite of the external simplicity of the building, a very unexpected discovery awaits the visitors - they seem to fall into the fairy-tale palace.
All the rooms of the temple are decorated with a huge number of gilded Buddha figures - large and small. There is so much gold here that the rich atmosphere of such decoration is incomparable with nothing else. Everywhere there is a Chinese style of construction and interior decoration. On each floor are rooms for prayer, where parishioners can kneel before a Buddha statue. There is also a room for conferences of monks and their higher ranks.
At the very top you can stroll along the open terrace and breathe the fresh air. Still here is a very curious device - a large rotating cylinder-drum, which is intended for prayer. Each of its turns helps to clear the karma not only of the person who twists it, but also of those who he thinks about at that moment. This is similar to the Christian lighting of candles for health. For those who are weak and can not climb to the wheel on the steps, there is a lift-chair. Yes, by the way, the attitude of Buddhist monks to tourists is very polite, and they are always ready to help you.
How to get to the temple?
To see firsthand the Temple of the sacred Tooth of the Buddha, you need to get to the Chinese quarter, where you will immediately see this unusually quiet harbor in the boiling of the life of the metropolis. This "Mecca" is open for pilgrimage from 7 am to 7 pm. As a rule, there is not a large influx of people here, and therefore one can always enjoy solitude and silence. Near the temple there is a bus stop - Maxwell Rd FC, which you can reach on routes Nos. 80 and 145. If time permits, we recommend using another type of public transport , subway , and a walk through the beauties of Chinatown, where to your attention, in addition to numerous cheap hotels and cafes with local cuisine, other shrines will be presented, such as the Temple of Sri Mariamman .
