Tea made from strawberry leaves is good and bad

In recent years, interest in herbal teas has grown significantly, and this is not just a tribute to fashion. Adherents of a healthy lifestyle replace black tea and coffee with a herbal drink in their daily diet. This is explained by the fact that traditional drinks contain a large amount of caffeine and tannin, which, in addition to apparent "vivacity" negatively affect the human nervous system, gradually destroy its stability. The amount of harmful substances in tea is affected by the ability to brew it, and the amount of time that the drink is in the teapot. Quite different can be said about tea made from strawberry leaves, the benefit and harm of which is very well studied.

Useful properties of tea from strawberry leaves

Delicious herbal tea is obtained from the leaves of strawberries. This is how gardeners call the berry, which grows in their garden plots. As a rule, garden strawberries grow on the beds. But on how to properly call this plant, the wonderful taste and benefits of the berry itself will not change at all.

Biologists distinguish two varieties of strawberries: garden and forest. Studies have shown that wild strawberry contains more useful substances than its garden variety. Strawberry tea, thanks to the presence of tannins, helps with stomach disorders and food poisoning, nervous overwork, facilitates painful sensations in colitis, cholelithiasis and kidney diseases. Its leaves are rich in ascorbic acid, which has an anti-inflammatory effect, and therefore stimulates the protective functions of the body.

Fermented tea from strawberry leaves

Leaves of strawberries are recommended to be harvested in early summer, cutting off 1-2 completely unfolded leaves from the bush. Collected leaves for 5-6 hours lay in the shade on a flat surface in 2-3 layers. To ensure that the upper leaves do not dry out, they are periodically turned over. Slightly faded foliage is transferred into 1 layer on cotton cloth, which then, together with the leaves, rolls in the form of a bundle. In this state, the raw materials remain for another 24 hours. After a day, the leaves are removed from the tissue and left to dry in a dark place.

Fermented in this way, the leaves will improve the taste and color of strawberry tea.
