Table of height and weight of adolescents

As you know, there are certain norms of growth and weight for young children and for adolescents. These norms are often posted in the offices of pediatricians in order to follow them for the development of children.

But at the same time, all these tables of growth and weight are very relative, especially for teenagers. The physical parameters of the human body are affected by many factors, not just its age. The greatest influence on these data is heredity, as well as the way of life of a teenager. In addition, adolescents vary in weight, body size, growth and weight gain. Therefore, all the tables of the ratio of height and weight of adolescents are very conditional, and represent a set of statistical data for several previous periods.

Taking into account the fact that the data are statistical, the tables that were compiled no later than 10 years ago and most precisely in your country most fully reflect the picture. Do not forget that in addition to the personal data of each person, the genotype of a particular nationality influences the statistics. And we hope that you understand that to match the growth and weight of the modern teenager and, for example, African teenagers during the early twentieth century, it is still inadvisable.

In the presented anthropometric tables of the growth and weight of the adolescent, the proportions of children with one or another growth (weight) are found.

The data of the three middle columns ("Below average", "Medium", and "Above average") characterize the physical data of the majority of adolescents at a given age. Data from the second and penultimate columns ("Low" and "High") characterize a smaller proportion of the total population of adolescents at a given age. But do not give too much importance to this. Perhaps, such a jump or vice versa lag is due to the individual characteristics of the organism of a particular teenager, and there is likely no reason for experiencing. As for getting the measurements of a teenager in one of the extreme columns ("Very Low" and "Very High"), then it is better to seek medical advice from a doctor. The doctor in turn will send the adolescent to the test for hormones, and confirm or deny the presence of diseases in the adolescent endocrine system.

Differentiation of the rate of growth and weight of adolescents as much as 7 categories ("Very Low", "Low", "Below average", "Average", "Above average" "High", and "Very high") is due to large differences in the physical characteristics of the body for people of the same age. Estimating the undergrowth according to the data of the individual growth and the individual weight is not correct. All comparisons must be made only in aggregate. For example, if according to the growth data, the teenager falls into the category "High", and according to the weight in the category "Very low", then most likely such a big difference is caused by a sharp jump in growth and a lag in weight. Much worse, if at once in two parameters a teenager falls into the category "High" or "Low". Then you can not say that there was a jump in growth, and weight just did not have time for it. In this case, it is better to take hormone tests to be sure of your child's health.

If your child at a particular point in time does not fall into the average norms of growth and weight of adolescents of his age, then you should not worry particularly. You can measure it in a month, and see any trends to change. In this case, based on these trends, and it is worth making conclusions about whether you need to see a doctor.
