Sound insulation of the ceiling in the apartment

Who lived or lives in an apartment building, knows firsthand how the ceiling sounds, when one of the neighbors at the top moves the furniture, or how the stormy discussions of life among neighbors can be heard. This brings a lot of inconvenience, it causes stress, fatigue and irritability. Therefore, soundproofing the ceiling in the house is one of the first requirements of tenants of high-rise buildings. Fortunately, in the modern market, you can find many materials that can absorb the unnecessary sound for us from neighboring rooms.

In our master class, we show how to conduct sound insulation of the ceiling in the apartment with your own hands? It's actually not so difficult, and everyone can protect his house from extraneous noise without the help of specialists.

To conduct sound insulation of the ceiling in the apartment we will need:

Many materials are suitable for soundproofing the room, for example: foam plastic, mineral wool, liquid soundproofing, stretch ceilings. In our master class we use environmentally friendly, strong and springy material - mineral wool, which includes fiberglass and synthetic acrylic binder, without the addition of phenol-formaldehyde hazardous resins. Mineral plates are non-combustible, and have a high sound absorption coefficient, they are often used to finish the sound insulation of stretch ceilings , which not only decorate the room, but also help to get rid of unwanted noise.

Sound insulation of the ceiling in the apartment with their own hands

  1. Along the perimeter of the room, at a distance of 5 cm from the ceiling, glue in 2 layers vibroizoliruyuschuyu gasket with a vibroacoustic sealant.
  2. To the glued ribbon dowel nails with a step of 1500 mm fasten the guide metal profiles.
  3. We mount to the ceiling vibration isolating suspensions with the help of a wedge anchor in steps of 800-900 mm, retreating no more than 150 mm from the wall.
  4. We mount profiles of a two-level frame to the ceiling with screws with a pitch of 600 mm.
  5. Perpendicular to the first level of profiles we attach the second level by means of two-level connectors with a pitch of 400-500 mm, attaching them with self-tapping screws of 4 pieces per each connector.
  6. To avoid the appearance of acoustic bridges, after mounting the frame from the guide profile, remove the dowel of the nails.
  7. Fill the frame space with sound-absorbing plates.
  8. Unbend the vibration isolating hangers, thus fixing the sound-absorbing slabs on the ceiling.
  9. The most important and final stage of the soundproofing of the ceiling in the apartment is a two-layer planking. For the first layer we take gypsum-fiber sheets with a thickness of 10 mm and attach them to profiles using self-tapping screws at the corners of the sheet (4 fixing points).
  10. The communication pipes before the abutment to the plate, we wrap the elastic vibration-isolating gasket.
  11. Seams between sheets of gypsum-fiber boards are filled with vibroacoustic sealant.
  12. Mount the second layer of skin. Gypsum boards are fastened to the previous layer with the help of self-tapping screws with the splitting of the joints.
  13. With a construction knife, we cut off a part of the vibration-isolating gasket, which protrudes under the guiding profiles.
  14. The resulting seam is filled with a vibroacoustic sealant. So we completed the soundproofing of the ceiling with our own hands, now you can start finishing the surface.
