In 2005, the excavation was dug, and then construction was suspended. It was resumed in 2007. During the construction, the architectural plan was changed, as well as the developer of the project. Initially, the completion of the construction was planned for 2008, then it was postponed to 2009, and finally, in 2011, the Dubai Torch was completed. Instead of 74 floors, it turned out 79, instead of the planned 504 apartments - 676. By the way, the cost of a one-room apartment in this building in 2015 began with 1 million 628 thousand dirhams of the UAE (this is slightly more than $ 443 thousand).
Fires
The name of the Torch tower house in Dubai turned out to be prophetic: Marina Torch experienced two serious fires. And even in response to the search query "Skyscraper Torch in Dubai" many photos show exactly the moment when the house really burned like a torch.
The first fire took place in 2015, on the night of February 20 to February 21. Then on one of the floors almost in the middle of the building (according to some information, on the balcony of 52 floors) the grill caught fire, and because of the wind, the fire quickly spread to other apartments). All the cladding from the 50th floor to the top was charred. Suffered 7 people who received medical care.
According to the survey results, 101 apartments were found unfit for living, and residents of the Skyscraper Torch in Dubai were relocated to the hotel at the expense of the owners of the building. The special commission established then that the fire did not inflict damage to the structure of the building. In May 2015, the reconstruction of the building was started, and in the summer of 2016 - its facing was replaced.
By the way, this fire led to the fact that the Office of the United Arab Emirates decided to use small aircraft to extinguish high-altitude fires. And in early August 2017, the Dubai Torch caught fire again. The reasons for the fire have not yet been reported, it is known only that the building was evacuated on time, and there were no casualties.
