Sights of the Samara Region

The Samara region, stretching across the southeast of the European part of the Russian Federation, passes through the middle course of the Volga. Zhigulevsky Reserve named after I.I. Sprygina

This one of the most famous reserves of the Samara region covers an area of ​​just over 23,000 hectares. It begins at the bend of the Volga River and extends along the Zhiguli Mountains - an elevated area with hills with a maximum height of almost 400 m. 200 species of birds and 50 species of mammals live on the reserve territory. Of the thousands of plant species, endemic and relic specimens are represented.

The National Park "Samarskaya Luka"

In the east of the Zhigulevskaya Upland near the bend of the Volga River stretched Samarskaya Luka, which is a peninsula. On the park area of ​​134 thousand hectares you can see not only rare plant and animal species, but also visit paleolithic sites, Muromsky town - the settlement of Volga Bulgaria and the Repin's house-museum.

Bogatyrskaya Sloboda in the Samara Region

In the suburbs of Zhiguli there is an architectural object "Bogatyrskaya sloboda" in the form of an ancient fortress made of wood, surrounded by a palisade and watchtowers. Historical Shaft, Samara Region

On the territory of the Samara region there is a unique Zavolzhsky Historical Shaft. It is an earthen shaft with a height of up to 3 m and a length of almost 200 km, running along straight lines. The town of Krasny Yar has even the remains of a fortress that was part of this defensive system from attacks by Kalmyk-Bashkir detachments until the middle of the 18th century.

Ascension Monastery in the Samara Region

In Syzran there is one of the most ancient monasteries of the Samara region - the Ascension Monastery, founded in 1685. The first buildings of the complex were wooden. The main temple of the monastery, the Cathedral of the Ascension of the Lord in the Russian-Byzantine style, was built in 1738.
