Teaching methods for reading preschoolers

Formation of reading skills in a child is quite a complicated and time-consuming process. Classes for teaching reading of preschoolers need to be divided into several stages.

  1. Stage 1 - learn and remember the letters. At this stage, the child learns to distinguish letters and understand their correct pronunciation and reading ("EM" - "M", "ES" - "C").
  2. Stage 2 - reading syllables with varying degrees of complexity. Here the child learns the connections between syllables and their utterance. At this stage, there are more difficulties. Here, the most effective method can be identified learning merges of syllables by imitation or drawings-hints.
  3. Stage 3 - we begin to understand the meaning of the word you read. This stage of developing the ability to comprehend the text read, it is necessary to begin when reading becomes like saying a single word, rather than individual syllables.
  4. For this stage it is necessary to perform exercises for reading preschoolers: read slowly words, with an increasing tempo, and a different degree of tone increase in the voice. Then find out in what words the kid did not understand their meaning and explain. Next, an adult calls an adjective or a verb, and the child selects words from those that he read, for example, "shoe" - the answer: "boots", etc. It is also good at this stage to read the captions for illustrations.

  5. At stage 4, the child learns to understand the meaning of read sentences or short texts for reading preschoolers.
