Museum of Beam Bezistan


In Sarajevo there is a historical museum. It consists of five buildings scattered throughout the city. In the historical center of Sarajevo, on Bashcharshy , there is Bruce Bezistan (or Bursa Bezistan).

Historical information about the museum

The building, where the expositions are located, has its history for 1500 years. It was built during the time of Turkish rule, under the great vizier of Sultan Suleiman the Great - Rustem Pasha. The primary purpose of the premises is trade. It was brought here from the Middle East and then silk was resold.

The size of the museum is quite impressive. It covers an area of ​​6 hectare (20x30 m). The roof consists of 8 domes - 6 large and 2 small. Inside the space is divided into zones, due to which it is perceived very organically. As the dividing parts are powerful columns on which the arch rests.

Adds the impression of a balcony, located around the perimeter of the building. It regularly exhibits various galleries.

The Museum of Bruce Bezistan is focused on the history of Bosnia and Herzegovina and, first of all, of Sarajevo itself. Visiting Brouss Bezistan as part of the excursion is inexpedient. Go there yourself, taking a local guide-interpreter, who will be able to translate information from a multimedia screen and other inscriptions in the museum.

How to get there?

Bashcharshy is the historical center of Sarajevo . Given the short distances, the best way is to walk on foot. Convenient option to get a taxi, though, it will be a little expensive. You can rent a car and move comfortably wherever possible. There is also public transportation. Which way is better - each tourist decides on his own.
