Puri Lukisan

The history of the museum began in 1936, when King Ubud together with his brother founded the community of artists. It consisted of more than 100 authors of both the Balinese and the emigrants. The main goal of the community was:

The Puri Lukisan Museum was opened in 1956 with the help of a Dutch artist named Rudolf Bonnet. The building was erected for several years. The name "Puri Lukisan" from the local language translates as "castle paintings". Here the main collections of the country are kept and various exhibitions are held.

Some canvases, stored in the Puri Lukisan Museum, are very ancient. They were specially restored by local craftsmen to convey the spirit and strength of the country.
