Outdoor wide plastic skirting boards

Traditionally, the final stage in the decoration of the room is the installation of ceiling and floor skirting . They close the joints between the surface coatings, improve the thermal insulation of the room, give the room a complete and harmonious appearance. Outdoor wide plastic skirting boards are currently in particularly high demand.

Types of flooring wide skirting boards

Floor wide skirting boards in the interior are most advantageous when the room has sufficiently high ceilings. Then this detail of the trim harmonizes the proportions and protects the lower part of the walls from damage.

Now, two types of flooring wide skirting boards, made on the basis of polymer compounds, that is, plastic, are common.

The first and most familiar is the skirting boards made of foamed polyvinyl chloride (PVC). This type of skirting has already been presented on the market for quite some time and is quite in demand due to its low cost. Wide plinths made of PVC are made in various designs (sometimes with imitation of stucco elements) and width. You can also choose one of the huge number of shades of decoration of this finishing element. PVC skirting boards have internal channels for laying cables, and their installation is carried out on a simple glue for tiles. Also, together with the baseboard, you can buy all the necessary docking elements, for example, corners. Plastic skirting boards of this kind have a small margin of elasticity, so they can be used on walls with small irregularities. The disadvantage of this type of floor skirting can be considered a relatively short service life.

The second type is a plinth made of polyurethane, which only recently appeared on the market. Usually on sale you can find white wide floor plastic skirting boards made of polyurethane with different designs. Such poverty in color options is very simple: polyurethane perfectly tolerates coloring, so if desired, it can be given any, even the most intricate shade. Such plinths are a good substitute for gypsum varieties, they look no less aristocratic and beautiful, and therefore can be used in interiors, even with a very expensive finish and the presence of a large number of decorative elements. The huge advantage of polyurethane skirting in front of polyvinyl chloride is its flexibility. If there are walls with radius curvature in the room, columns, various structures of complex geometry, the polyurethane plinth becomes the simplest and most advantageous option. Wide skirting boards made of polyurethane look interesting, well complement the interior decoration and perfectly repeat all the bends of the walls, while hiding small irregularities.

Advantages of wide skirting boards

A wide plinth on the floor, in comparison with a narrow one, has several undeniable advantages. First, it is a more beautiful and noticeable appearance. In the case of a large width, the skirting board becomes not just an addition to the floor and wall decoration, but an independent decorative element, which is often even formed in contrasting shades.

The second advantage is the possibility to hide a large number of cables and wires in special channels going inside the plinth. In addition, such skirting boards visually hide and correct all the flaws in the area of joints.

However, it is necessary to choose the width of this plinth correctly. The widest floor skirting with a wall height of about 2.6 m should be no more than 70 mm. Accordingly, when the height of the wall is increased, the plinth may become wider. So, with three-meter ceilings, you can afford a finish of 90 mm, and above 3 m - 100 mm and even more.
