National Flight Park


In the northern part of Norway there is a picturesque National Park, called Reisa (Reisa nasjonalpark). It belongs to the county (province) of Troms, is located in the commune of Nordreis and borders with Finland.

Description of sight

Flight is a National Park, established in 1986 to protect beautiful and almost virgin valleys and mountain ranges. These places are rich in a unique animal and vegetable world. Manages here the Norwegian Agency (Direktoratet for naturforvaltning), responsible for environmental protection.

The flight is located at the top of the Reisaelva River, which flows in a north-western direction and flows into Reyafjord in the Norwegian Sea. The territory of the nature protection zone covers an area of ​​803 square kilometers. km. To her on the west side is adjacent the reserve Raisdottarhaldi (Ráisduottarháldi), and from the east it is planned to create another National Park - Goahteluoppal.

Flora and fauna of the establishment

On the territory of the reserve zone, there are officially registered 525 varieties of vascular plants and 193 - mountain ones. There are a large number of birds in the National Park of the Flight, only about 140 species. Here you can meet both local birds and migratory birds, from which you can find quite rare specimens: bean geese, Lesser White-fronted goose, swan-swan, hawk-owl, golden eagle, buzzard, gyrfalcon, common kestrel, etc.

The fauna in the protected area is diverse. There are a lot of twilight mammals, for example, lynx, foxes, wolverines, and sometimes you can even meet brown bears.

What else is famous for the National Flight Park?

The most popular excursion in the protected area is a visit to the Mollesjoka waterfall . It is on the Molleselva River, which is the right tributary of Reisaelva.

This waterfall in its water consumption ranks 42nd in Europe. Its maximum height is at the top of 269 meters above sea level, and the capacity is 6 cubic meters. m. per second.
