Museum of Brewing

Belgium is known for the fact that it produces unusual, but very tasty varieties of beer. Belgians in general are very sensitive to this drink, so almost every city has its own small beer museum. One of them is the Brewery Museum in Bruges , which houses the last operating brewery De Halve Maan.

History of the museum

For the first time, the De Halve Maan brewery, which means "crescent", was mentioned in the city register back in the 19th century. Her story began in 1856, when Leon Mays began to make beer on authentic recipes. He first began to boil a frothy drink, characterized by a slight transparency and sour taste. During the entire existence of the brewery De Halve Maan survived the death of the brothers Mays, the First and Second World Wars. For 160 years in the brewery De Halve Maan, the technology of beer production has changed more than once, new varieties of this frothy drink have been created, which have become real hits.

Only in 1997 the owner Veronika Mays decides to open taverns and halls on the territory of the brewery, where it would be possible to organize various events. At the same time the Brewery Museum was opened, which still reveals the secrets of brewing to visitors and residents of the city of Bruges .

How are guided tours in the museum?
