Monte San Salvatore

There are hardly any people who can be left indifferent by the picturesque view from the slopes of the mountain. The mountains fascinate and attract. Therefore, we could not ignore one of the most famous mountains of Switzerland - Mount Monte San Salvatore in Lugano (Italy, Monte San Salvator).

From the history

It is believed that earlier the mountain was the place where the pilgrims' hard way passed. It honored the memory of the Son of the Lord, because on the mountain, according to legend, he stopped before he ascended to heaven.

Gradually, the mountain lost its religious significance and gained popularity among travelers. Just for them in 1890 on the initiative of Antonio Battaglini a funicular was built. He began to transport those who wanted to enjoy the picturesque views in the same year. This device has become a landmark in the history of the mountain. It was not accidental that he was devoted to the whole Museum of the History of the Development of the Funicular, which was built on Monte San Salvatore in 1999.
