Mardjani Mosque, Kazan

The Marjani Mosque in Kazan is an architectural monument and is officially listed in the catalog of world values. Guests and residents of Tatarstan in large numbers regularly visit this complex, wishing to contemplate this "business card" of the city and the republic with their own eyes.

Al-Mardjani is a kind of symbol of tolerance in Russia, after all the Empress Catherine II at one time allowed the construction of the mosque, and she for several centuries was the largest and most important in Kazan. Today the mosque also plays a huge role in the spiritual life, being the center of the Tatar-Muslim spirituality in the republic.

The building was built in the 18th century by the traditions of medieval Tatar Baroque architecture with a minaret on the roof. The mosque has two floors and three tiers. In the 19th century, an annex with a staircase was made to the mosque and the mihrab was expanded.

Its name is associated with the name of Imam Shigabutdin Mardzhani, who served here for more than 30 years. Before that, it had other names: Efendi, Yunusovskaya.

For a long Soviet time, the mosque was the only mosque in the territory of all Kazan, its territory was repeatedly expanded and improved, and on the eve of the celebration of the Millennium of Kazan it was thoroughly restored.

Today, the mosque hosts meetings, competitions, various cultural events of Muslims, and nikah is held in the Marjani mosque in Kazan - a marriage ceremony for the conclusion of a treaty between a man and a woman according to all Sharia rules. The address of the mosque's location is the st. Kayum Nasyri, 17.
