Heavenly Lake

In the south-east of Laos , at an altitude of 1154 m above the sea level is the Heavenly Lake, or Fatomlecken.

The origin of the pond

The mountains of the Sanxay District (in the province of Attapa) adorn the Heavenly Lake, also known as Nong Fa. The opinions of scientists on the formation of this lake were divided. Some researchers adhere to the version according to which the reservoir formed in the crater of a fallen asleep volcano. The adherents of the second theory attribute the cosmic origin to Fatomlecken. Scientists believe that the Heavenly Lake appeared on the site of the crater left by the fallen meteorite.
