Georgin Kanzashi - master class

Kanzashi (Kandzashi) is a traditional female hair ornament, originally from Japan. However, now this term is used for different clips, brooches and other ornaments made from satin ribbons wrapped in a special way. Now there are a lot of needlewomen who do kanzash. In my master class I want to show you one of the types of dahlia kanzashi - dahlia with sharp petals.

Dahirin in the technique of Kanzash - master class

Here's what we need to make it:

Let's start making:

  1. Satin ribbon is cut into strips of 6 cm with a quantity of 36 pieces.
  2. We take one strip and fold it in half with the wrong side inwards.
  3. Now cut off the corner, and process the edge (that is, carefully burn it with a candle or lighters).
  4. That's what we'll get.
  5. One corner of this petal is added to the middle, then the second one and processed so that the corners do not diverge.
  6. It turns out such a petal. We repeat the manipulations with all the stripes and get 36 petals. Try to keep all the petals as much as possible the same size and shape.
  7. Now we make a basis: we cut out a circle from a dense fabric in diameter of 2-3 sm under tone of a flower.
  8. We can start to collect a flower. On the base we glue 12 petals (the first row).
  9. From the top between the petals we glue the second row.
  10. Also between the petals we glue the third row.
  11. It remains only to paste the decorative center.

Our dahlia dahlia from ribbons is ready, as you can see, making it is not so difficult. With such a flower, we can decorate the bezel, hair clip or hair band, a headband or use a flower to decorate clothes.
