When selecting a radiator in the first place, you should start from the dimensions of the room, the desired heat transfer and the requirements for the type of house heating (centralized or individual).
Which radiator to choose?
Before you go to a specialized store, you should clarify some points. These include the working and test pressure of the system. The maximum temperature of heating and the diameter of the piping pipes are also important.
It should be read that the test pressure must necessarily exceed by one or two atmospheres the operating pressure. If we are talking about a high-rise building, we will also have to take into account the pressure drops and the acidity of the chosen coolant.
Calculation of the number of radiator sections
There are several ways to calculate the number of sections: by area, by volume, or by a full calculation, taking into account all factors. Consider the first two types of calculation of the number of sections of radiators, which you yourself can completely hold at home:
- the factor for calculating the sections taking into account the room volume is 41 W: you calculate the volume and multiply it by this coefficient, then divide the resulting number by the heat transfer of one section of the selected radiator and round it to an even number;
- to calculate the area of the room we take the coefficient of 100 W and multiply it by the calculated area of the room, then divide by the heat transfer of one section and round off (here we take into account the balconies and loggias and add 20%).
Heating Radiators - Types and Benefits
Conditionally, all models are divided based on the material used and the type of construction. Let's consider the main materials of the radiator.
- Steel . This species can also be presented in two versions: panel or tubular. The panel structure is two platinum with recesses-collectors or connecting channels. This type is characterized by high heat transfer and a small inertia, which allows the use of automatic devices for regulation. Tubular type is primarily more aesthetic due to unusual design designs. This is a good solution for high-rise buildings. They have high heat transfer and at the same time a relatively low cost.
- Cast-iron . Among the different types of radiators, heating is longevity. Their weak spot - they suffer badly from hydraulic shocks. They are also quite labor-intensive when installed, and their appearance is less presentable.

- it can be the assembly of individual sections or extrusion models with a mechanical connection of triple sections. It is important to observe strict compliance with the chemical composition of the coolant. The downside of such a system is a rather narrow range
neutral LV, which is difficult to observe in central and autonomous heating. - Bimetallic . This is one of the universal solutions to the question of how to choose radiators for heating. Manufacture this type of steel and aluminum. As a result, a synthesis of good heat transfer from two different types of radiators is obtained. The inner part, which is in contact with the coolant, is made of steel. And due to aluminum, this radiator has a very high heat output and increases the service life of the structure.
