"The same traitor as us" is a picture of a Russian gangster named Dmitry, played by Stellan Skarsgard, and also about the British spy Hector (Damien Lewis) from MI6. Ewan began his story by describing his character a little: "Perry works as a lecturer at the University of London, but most recently he gave lectures to students at Oxford. "Many now do not understand how an ordinary married couple suddenly becomes a spy, but the story explains everything," the actor continued. "Everything happens unexpectedly. Perry and Gayl get acquainted with Dmitry. Almost immediately they become tightened in his machinations. After lunch, Dmitry calls Perry and introduces him to his "colleagues", the same Russian bandits as he is. After they get drunk and Perry, without even noticing it, begins to help Dmitry in the implementation of his plan: settle in London. Well, Gail's spouse, of course, pulls for himself, "- said the actor.
In addition, Ewan McGregor spoke in detail about how he was preparing for the shoot. "I immediately admit that I did not read John Le Carré, who wrote this novel. And not just one book at all. Of course, I know that he is a master of thrillers, and he saw films made according to his works: "Spy, go out!" And "Spy coming from the cold," but there is no time or special desire to read it. I'm preparing for the shootings a little differently and quite a long time. I scrutinize the script very carefully, analyzing it. I need in my hero to find something native, close to me. And when I understand that I have become akin to the character, then I start rehearsing. By the way, with the main characters of the picture: Dima, Gael, and Hector, I rehearsed for the first week. In general, this is very rare, but the film is quite emotionally complex, so you had to go through some scenes to portray real emotions, "McGregor said.
"Of all the characters, let no one take offense at me, I liked most of all to play with Dmitry. Stellan Skarsgard is a cool guy and a great professional in his field. I realized this when I ran into him in the movie "Angels and Demons." He has a great sense of humor, and when he appears on the court, he simply has no equal.
