Saline enema with constipation

Saline, or hypertonic enema, is a microclyster, for which a strong saline solution is used. The introduction of such a solution into the intestine promotes the activation of receptors for self-emptying. It provokes an improvement in peristalsis and liberation from the fecal masses resulting in an increase in osmotic pressure in the gut lumen, while the saline solution softens them and removes them painlessly. The effect after the procedure is observed after 15 - 20 minutes.

The procedure can be described as "washing out" of softened by water fecal masses from the body, because while there is no effect on either the intestinal receptors or its tone. The procedure is suitable for emergency cases when it is necessary to quickly and effectively conduct the emptying of the intestine.

It is better to use an assistant to perform the procedure, because independently put a cleansing enema is uncomfortable.
