Dry plaster

Many people, after hearing the definition of "dry plaster" imagine a prepackaged mix of cement, sand and colored pigments, which is applied to the prepared wall. In fact, this is a regular drywall, which you have seen many times in specialized construction stores. Ideally flat sheets have become an easy way to install piers, leveling walls, suspended ceilings and other important structures.

Dry plaster of walls: characteristic

As mentioned above, this kind of plaster is actually a sheet of plasterboard. The main constituents of this finishing material are:

A great advantage of such sheets is their versatility, as they are suitable for subsequent finishing with wallpaper , paints, plasters and other facing materials with unique adhesion indicators. The material is environmentally friendly, resistant to inflammation, has good sound insulation properties, prevents the appearance of fungus and mold.

Types of decoration

At the moment, builders use several types of finishing with such plasters: fixing on gypsum slurry, on cement mix and dry decorative plaster. Let's consider in more detail each kind of plaster:

  1. Gypsum suspension. It is used for fastening the sheet to concrete and brick surfaces. Most often, special gypsum mastic is used, which is prepared in the following way: 1 part of sawdust is mixed with 4 parts of gypsum with glue liquid (a bucket of water for 50 g of glue). Already a couple of hours after application, the gypsum reaches a fortress and with gypsum cardboard it is possible to work further.
  2. Dry cement plaster. For fixing, a solution of 1: 3 is used, which is applicable for laying brick. The main rule is that the mixture should be very sticky and dense for convenient mounting on a vertical surface. The advantage of this type of work is the high speed and the ability to perform repairs yourself.

Please note that fixing the drywall to the mixture is only possible with vertical installation (wall finishing). On the ceiling, the sheets are attached using nails / screws to a pre-built metal frame.

Building mixtures

If we consider plaster from the point of view of dry mixtures, then we can also distinguish similar subspecies. Thus, cement plaster is sold in pre-packaged form in special paper bags. The composition includes cement, sand, mineral components, synthetic fibers. The solution prepared on the basis of the mixture is sufficiently plastic and has excellent water retention abilities. Used for finishing facades and industrial premises. It serves as the basis for the application of decorative coatings.

Gypsum plasters consist of gypsum and polymer additives. The consumption of such a finishing material is several times less than for cement-sand mixtures. At machine application there is a simultaneous plastering and puttying. The material can be used for restoration work, the production of decorative elements. And finally, dry decorative plaster. It is applied at the finish line

tree and is the final stage of finishing the walls.

The composition includes special ingredients that make the surface embossed, creating an unusual pattern. This decoration looks very stylish and original.
