There are a number of diseases of the salivary glands, in which their function is disturbed. All diseases of the salivary glands can be divided into species, depending on the location and mechanism of origin.
Inflammatory diseases of the salivary glands - sialadenitis
Most often, doctors face inflammatory diseases of the salivary glands. In medicine they were called sialadenites. The cause of their occurrence are bacterial and viral infections:
1. Acute sialadenites:
- acute viral diseases that most often affect parotid salivary glands and are caused by viruses of mumps (mumps), influenza;
- acute bacterial diseases that cause pathogenic bacteria that enter the body after infectious diseases or surgical intervention;
- acute inflammatory disease caused by foreign matter, which blocks the salivary canal.
2. Chronic nonspecific diseases of the salivary glands:
- chronic disease (sialodohitis), which slowly progresses, affecting the salivary ducts;
- the formation of stones in the ducts of the salivary glands leads to a disease known as salivary stone disease ;
- against the background of exacerbation of hypertension or diabetes mellitus, chronic sialadenitis appears, which is exacerbated along with the main diseases.
Reactive dystrophic diseases of salivary glands - sialose
The reactive-dystrophic disease of the salivary glands develops as a result of pathological processes in the digestive, nervous, endocrine and other systems of the body. In medicine, this ailment is known as sialosis. It is more often detected in patients after 40 years, both in men and women. It provokes an increase in the salivary glands and / or a violation of their function. Always accompanies such diseases as:
- Sjogren's syndrome ;
- Mikulich's disease, etc.
In the reactive-dystrophic disease of the salivary glands, the patient may experience hypersalivation or hypo-salivation, that is, increased or decreased salivation. This is due to various diseases of a systemic nature and requires additional examination.
