Desitin - indications for use

Desitin is a universal drug: it is a children's ointment or a cream from pranks, and a cosmetic product for adults. Due to the fact that its components do not penetrate into the blood and do not have systemic effects on the human body, Desitin can be used for newborns from the first days of life. For the same reason, an overdose of the drug is excluded. Like any zinc cream, desithin can be used as a cream for a diaper. According to the instructions for use, Desithin is intended for the prevention and treatment of diaper dermatitis in infants, as well as for healing of light lesions of the skin: small burns, scratches, cuts, abrasions, sunburn. Desitin is indicated for use and significantly alleviates the condition of patients also with exacerbation of eczema, ulcers, bedsores, streptoderma and some types of lichen. Some advise to use desithin for diathesis, but it is important to understand that it helps only to remove the external symptoms: itching and redness of the skin. Diathesis is a more complex, systemic disease, and it is more necessary to treat it primarily from the inside, and any ointments and creams in this case are only auxiliary aids.

How to apply Desithin?

For the prevention of diaper dermatitis: with ointment or cream for the night, the skin folds of the child are treated before putting on the diaper and swaddling. The product should always be applied to clean, dried skin.

For the treatment of diaper dermatitis: cream or ointment is applied to the affected areas of the skin 3 times a day or more, when changing diapers or diapers. Desiccine is not recommended to be applied to the skin during the air baths, since the protective film formed by it prevents oxygen from penetrating into the skin cells, or, more simply, prevents the skin from "breathing".

For the treatment of skin lesions (burns, scratches, etc.): the cream or ointment is applied a thin layer on the affected skin areas. If necessary, and for greater efficiency, you can impose a gauze bandage. Desitin can be used to treat only superficial and uninfected skin lesions.

Desitin is dispensed in pharmacies without a prescription, does not interact with other medicines, there is no danger of overdose. Reviews about desithine are mostly good, sometimes only a specific smell of cod liver oil is mentioned as a minus.
