Curtain rod for curtains own hands

Here is an example of how to make wall blinds for curtains with your own hands, using the most common household tools, a pipe and a metal rod. Virtually the only power tool that will be needed for this work is the Bulgarian. Other simple devices (vice, tape measure, brushes, sandpaper and other things) will always be found in your garage or home workshop.

How to make a beautiful curtain rod for your own curtains?

  1. First, we find two pipes with a diameter of 25 mm and 19 mm. Its size directly depends on the width of the window opening. Measure the window, add 40 cm, and get the optimal length of the cornice.
  2. Holders will be made from a rod with a diameter of 12 mm.
  3. In addition, you need a primer for metal.

  5. We cut the rod into pieces with a length of 25 cm.
  6. Further on the future holders we make grooves under the pipe with the help of the Bulgarian, holding the rod in the vice.
  7. This groove will make it possible to fix the pipe at the right distance from the wall.
  8. With sandpaper, remove the burrs and rust.
  9. We cover the metal billets with a primer.
  10. We paint our cornice in golden color.
  11. As a blank for the plugs we take wooden standard door handles. Although other beautiful things are suitable for this purpose.
  12. All the details of our cornice for curtains, made by own hands, are completely ready. For reliability, they can be covered with a layer of varnish.
  13. We hammer the holders into the wall, and from above we install pipes with plugs. The work is done.
