Craquelure on the walls

With fine cracks, which eventually start to spoil the art canvases, the masters of painting always struggled in every possible way. But soon the designers realized that the craquelure in the interior can be used in the form of an original decoration, and has already specifically begun to call on the plaster or facades of furniture the effect of artificial aging.

Craquelure in the design of the room

  1. Plaster Craquelure.
  2. Doing it is not very difficult, if you have the opportunity to buy all the necessary ingredients. It is performed in the form of a kind of pie, each layer of which is applied in a strictly defined order:

    1. First of all, the walls are primed with a special compound with a quartz filler. The color of the color you can adjust the color of the cracks.
    2. Not earlier than six hours later we put craquelure on the walls. You can decorate the entire area with cracks, and you can cause "aging" only in a certain area. Therefore, in some cases, this composition is distributed on the wall only in a certain place in the room.
    3. After some time (from 1.5 to 6 hours), we apply the finishing composition. It can be Venetian plaster or a thick paint of your chosen color. At the same time the process of cracking occurs literally in front of the builders.

Many things when creating a craquelure on the walls depend on seemingly minor details. For example, the richer the substrate, the slower the cracking of the plaster. A thick cover layer causes large cracks, and a thin one - a web of cobwebs. Even the instrument with which the craquelure is applied (roller, tampon, brush) is able to influence the pattern of cracks.

  3. Wallpaper craquelure .

If you do not want to contact plaster, then you can pick up in the room on a non-woven basis frescoes made in the style of craquelure. It is possible that in some cases they are inferior to the original decorative plaster, but this coating is relatively inexpensive and can be stuck in anybody's home without the services of masters.
