For the first time about the creation of this center came in 1886, when the park Sarmiento was still at the design stage. For the organization of the Córdoba Zoo, local businessman Miguel Chrisol and designer Carlos Tice, who later developed several other similar facilities in Argentina, responded.
Because of the political crisis, the construction of the Cordoba Zoo was postponed several times. Thanks to the intervention of the famous zoologist and botanist Jose Ricardo Scherer, the construction resumed. The grand opening took place on December 25, 1915.
