Clematis is a representative of the family of buttercups, which can be found on all continents, except Antarctica. In our region, they appeared only in the early 19th century, although in Europe they became known as far back as the 16th century. Trim Method
By the method of pruning, all sorts of clematis are divided into 3 groups:
- 1 group : cut quite a bit, just after flowering, only wilted flowers and withered stems are removed. Rejuvenate not often (1 every few years), cutting the plant almost to the ground, leaving only strong buds, but we must bear in mind that next year the clematis will bloom quite a bit.
- 2 group: cut off in early spring (before the beginning of growth), leaving 1 - 1.5 m from the ground, i.e. up to strong kidneys. This group includes large-flowered clematis, blooming on last year's shoots in early spring.
- Group 3 : cut off early in the spring (before active growth), leaving 20-40 cm off the ground. This includes clematis, blooming in summer on the shoots of the current year.
