When do cervical sutures take place in the ICI?
It has been clinically proven that suturing the cervix during pregnancy, accompanied by the development of the NIH for up to 33 weeks, reduces the incidence of premature birth. In this case, a specific period is determined strictly individually, taking into account when the first symptoms appeared. In most cases, surgical intervention is carried out in the interval 13-27 weeks of pregnancy. At the same time, doctors also take into account the risk of intrauterine infection, which increases as a result of mechanical collapse of the bladder, which occurs at the 14-17 week.
So, indications for carrying out of cervical uterus during pregnancy are:
- change in consistency, shortening of the cervix;
- gradual increase in the external throat of the uterus;
- the opening of the inner throat.
In what cases is neck sewing not done?
Treatment of ICI by surgery is not always possible, because there are also contraindications for surgical intervention. Among them are:
- pathological conditions in which the preservation of pregnancy is impossible (severe forms of diseases of the cardiovascular system, kidneys, liver, as well as mental, genetic and infectious diseases);
- presence of pathogenic microflora in the allocated cervical canal;
- congenital malformations of the fetus.
If these abnormalities are present, suturing the cervix is not performed.
How are birth after cervical closure?
Shortly before the estimated date of delivery (at 37-38 week), the seam is removed. In most cases this facilitates the initiation of the generic process. So, after a few days the cork starts to move away , which indicates the soon appearance of the baby.
