Wireless Charger

Wireless are not only headphones and microphones , but also chargers. This is very important, because many gadgets, without which a person can no longer manage, still need to be recharged.

How does the wireless charger work?

The principle of operation of this charging is based on the transfer of electricity from the source to the receiver (the device that needs to be charged) through the air. People familiar with physics know that this method is called inductive transmission.

It consists in the following: the receiver (for example, a smartphone) is on the charging platform, in each of them there is a coil. The alternating current passing through the lower coil forms a magnetic field, which causes the formation of a voltage in the upper coil. As a result, the phone's battery is charging.

Due to this principle, their work is called wireless chargers, since there is no contact through the wire (direct or mechanical) with the phone.

Advantages and disadvantages of wireless charging

Compared to wired charging, wireless has a number of advantages:

  1. Security. Such a platform provides reliability from adverse external influences during charging (for example: voltage drops). It can safely put an iron object, since it begins to work only after the detection of the receiving device.
  2. Ease of operation. Now do not connect anything, just put the phone on top and it will automatically start charging. This will save you from searching for charging and the problems of the broken socket.
  3. Absence of cables. Since one device can be put several handsets at once, it will significantly reduce the number of wires that are on your desk or in the car.
  4. Ability to use in adverse conditions. The high hermeticity of the charging platform allows you to use it even in high humidity conditions and in places where there is a chance of water entering it.

Of the shortcomings noted the following:

  1. Longer charge.
  2. High price.
  3. Inability to use the device at a distance from the charging platform.
  4. You can charge only devices that consume up to 5 watts.
  5. The need for precise alignment of both coils. With the development of such a charge, this inconvenience is gradually solved by increasing the size of the coil in the platform.

The use of a wireless portable charger has not yet gained much popularity, so they are not found in all stores of mobile phones and computer equipment. This is due to the fact that, so that it can be used, you need to change the existing device to the one in which the mechanism of charging the battery is completely changed (for example: on Lumia 820 or 920), to which not all users agree.

Manufacture of wireless chargers for smartphones and tablets are engaged by such companies as Nokia, LG, ZENS, Energizer, Oregon, Duracell Powermat. They can be in the form of stands, platforms, cushions, designed for one, two or three vehicles. You can even get a charge with the function of the clock, which is very convenient if you charge on the bedside table during the night.

There are models of wireless chargers built into the surface of the car center console (already available in some Chrysler, General Motors and Toyota cars) and home furniture (tables or shelves).

Apple is also developing in this area, but there is still no contactless device for iPhones.
