What to see in Romania?

Romania is a country with many interesting places. These are ancient churches and monasteries, forests, parks and waterfalls. And the main attractions of Romania are, of course, its magnificent medieval castles.

Bran Castle, Romania

It is said that the Count Dracula himself once lived in this castle, but history does not have that confirmation. This is just a beautiful legend, which does not prevent millions of tourists from visiting the town of Bran every year, where the fortress is located. In the XIV century, it was built by residents of this area for the defense of the city from the Turks. Since then, the castle kept changing its owners until in 1918 it became a royal residence. The Bran Castle has many intricate courses and underground spaces.

Today, the castle of Count Dracula (Vlad Tepes) in Romania is the first tourist attraction that tourists want to see on the way from Brasov to Rîsnov. It is an open-air museum where visitors can get acquainted with the architecture and everyday life of medieval Romania and, of course, purchase "vampire" souvenirs.

Korvinov Castle

In Transylvania, in the north-west of Romania, there is another interesting attraction - the Corvinus Castle. This fortification structure belonged to the Hunyadi family and was inherited until it fell into the ownership of the Habsburg dynasty. In 1974, in this castle, as well as in other similar constructions of Romania, a museum was opened. Here you can see a huge hall for knight feasts; Also open to visit are the two towers of the castle.

Peles Palace

The architectural monument, which is a Peles castle in Romania, is located near the city of Sinaia in the Carpathians. Built in 1914, for a long time it was the main residence of the king. But after its abdication in 1947, the castle was confiscated and turned into a museum.

Be sure to visit this beautiful old castle in the style of neo-renaissance. Its interior decoration impresses with its elegance, in particular, magnificent color stained-glass windows and artistic painting of interiors. The exposition of the museum will seem to you more than interesting: these are collections of medieval weapons, porcelain, paintings, sculptures, etc. And around the palace is a beautiful picturesque park.

Bigar waterfall in Romania

In Romania, there is something to see and in addition to the numerous castles scattered throughout the country. What is worth only waterfall Bigar - the most unusual natural attraction of this country! The water from the river Minis falls from the 8-meter height, and, meeting on its way a barrier in the form of calcareous tuff, forms a beautiful waterfall. It even built a bridge for tourists wishing to admire this unique spectacle.

The Black Church in Brasov

This functioning Lutheran church is the largest Gothic structure on the whole territory of Romania. The church received its name after a big fire during the Turkish war: several floors collapsed at once, and the walls of the building covered a large layer of soot. The unusual architecture and rich decoration of the church - a collection of carpets, frescoes and sculptures - attracts here not only Lutherans, but also ordinary tourists, especially since services in the Black Church are held only on Sundays, at the rest of the time it's just a museum.

Sinaia Monastery

In the Romanian city of Sinai there is a large Orthodox monastery - a place of pilgrimage for many believers. It was founded by a Romanian nobleman named Cantacuzino. An interesting feature of the monastery is that at all times the number of its novices was 12 - by the number of holy apostles. The monastery was heavily destroyed in the Russian-Turkish war, and then restored in the late 18th century. Now the visit to the monastery will please you with contemplation of ancient frescos outside and inside the building, as well as two ancient icons, donated by Nicholas II. A trip to the monastery of Sinai is one of the popular excursions in Romania.
