Exotic beauty and fragility of the nymphs could not help attracting the attention of breeders. The French scientist Joseph Bori Latour-Marliak conducted a huge work on the development of new varieties of water lilies at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. Thanks to his works, many interesting hybrids have appeared and are still being grown in water reservoirs all over the world.

The main types of water lilies:

  1. White is a water lily that grows in the water in Africa, Asia and Europe, characterized by large flowers (up to 15 cm in diameter) and leaves (up to 30 cm in diameter). In artificial ponds, a white lily is bred either in natural white form or in one of the garden: red or tender pink. The leaves of the white lily have a two-sided coloring - they are dark green on top and red on the inside.

From a white water lily this species differs somewhat smaller (up to 12 cm in diameter) in the size of flowers and much more vivid scent. Flowering lasts almost all summer. The leaves of the snow-white water-lily are painted in a dark green color.
  3. Quadrangular or small - a water lily that inhabits Siberia and the northern regions of the middle belt. It has small flower sizes (up to 5 cm in diameter) and leaves (up to 8 cm in diameter). The flowers of the small nymphaeus can be white or light pink in color.
  4. Scented is a water lily, which has a very strong and sharp aroma. The flowers are white or soft pink, the leaves are bright green on top and reddish on the back.
  5. Dwarf - a water lily of a miniature size. The flowers have a diameter of about 2.5 cm in diameter. Leaves are small, oval in shape. Ideal for small water bodies.
  6. Hybrid - a common name for all water lilies derived from the work of breeders. Among them, the following stand out:
