Villa Tugendhat

Villa Tugendgat - a vivid example of modern architecture and the best work by the architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe - is located in the Czech city ​​of Brno . The farmstead is one of the few examples of functionalism. Its exterior, like the interior, is one step ahead of many modern buildings. Tugendhat is the only building in the Czech Republic built in the 20th century, which is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.

Description

His work Ludwig Mies van der Rohe over the villa Tugendgat began in the mid 20-ies of the last century. The construction lasted two years and was completed in 1930. The house is located on a hillside, because of what the windows offer a beautiful view of the surrounding area. Roe, with a talented design of the villa, was able to make the landscape part of the interior, pushing the boundaries of space.

The house was purchased by the Tugendhat family. They were forced to leave their homes because of the war that began in 1938, and after its end they never returned. The estate was used for various purposes by the government. In 1994, it was decided to open a museum here. The villa was in good condition, although no one has been repairing it for 60 years. In 2010, nevertheless, there was a need for restoration, because of which the museum was closed for 2 years.

Villa Tugendgat in Brno primarily attracts its interior. Even in the modern world it is not so easy to find a dwelling house, where so much light and volume are felt. It was much ahead of its time, and it was immediately noticed by Czech entrepreneurs, having concluded a contract with the architect for mass production of armchairs, which he created specifically for Tugendhat. Models are called the Armchair Brno and the Armchair Tugendgat, their interpretation can still be seen today in the furniture salons of Europe.
