Types of conflicts in the organization

In any organization, the occurrence of various kinds of conflicts is possible. Conflict, (from the Latin conflictus - a clash) is a confrontation of differently directed interests and positions, disagreement of opinions and views, lack of agreement.

Types of conflicts in the team are positive or negative. Usually, the conflict manifests itself in disputes and decisive actions. The reasons are: differences in values, distribution of resources, divergence of goals, etc. There is an opinion that such incidents must be resolved immediately. But in many situations, types of business conflicts help to determine the diversity of points of view, give the opportunity to show their potential and to consider problems and alternatives. Thus, a conflict can lead to the development and effectiveness of the organization.

Types of labor conflicts

Conflict is motivation and driving force. And the fear of conflicts arises from the uncertainty about the possibility to resolve the conflict situation with a happy outcome. Most likely, it will be more correct to take the conflict as an instrument.

There are four main types of organizational conflict:

  1. Intrapersonal conflict. For example, when a person is presented with claims and inappropriate requirements about the result of his work. Or the second option: the production requirements differ from the personal needs or interests of the employee. Intrapersonal conflict is the answer to the workload. Studies have shown that dissatisfaction with work, insecurity and organization, stress are the first causes of such types of conflicts.
  2. Interpersonal conflict. Basically, this is a struggle between leaders. The deterioration of relations can be built on the elementary. For example, the distribution of capital, the time of use of equipment, the approval of the project, etc. Such a conflict manifests itself as a clash of different personalities. The views on things and goals in life in such people are very different. Such a conflict is the most common.
  3. Between a person and a group. It occurs if the expectation of a group of people does not coincide with the expectations of the individual, the pursuit of different goals.
  4. Intergroup conflict. Such conflicts are quite common, they are based on competition.

To resolve any kinds of conflicts in management will help either the leader or a compromise.
