Proper tents for the hike should be comfortable, reliable and safe. But apart from this, they are subdivided by purpose and additional parameters.
Which tent to choose for a hike - purpose
Temporary housing for the campaign should be purchased depending on the type of rest. For example, for cycling or hiking in a flat area, light (trekking) tents for a hike are suitable. They are small, light in weight and transport. But before a strong rain or wind, they are unlikely to become a defense.
Camping tent, designed for a long location in one place, is characterized by large dimensions and increased comfort. True, it weighs a lot and the heat in it is poorly preserved.
Another thing - an assault tent for mountain hikes. In this area, there are often sharp temperature changes and difficult climatic conditions (strong wind, snow, rain). Therefore, you need a stable winter camping tent, light, but at the same time reliable and with a dense material.
Which tent is better for trekking - layers, structures, materials
On sale there are tents single-layered and two-layered. The first, produced from a waterproof cloth, is easy to install. But on a rainy day inside on the walls in such models condensation is formed, so the inside is rather damp.
Two-layer tents consist of two layers with a gap of 10 cm: an external waterproof material and an internal air-permeable tent. Such products are safer, but much heavier.
There are several designs of tents:
- dvuhskatka, a traditional option, cheap, but not suitable for extreme hikes;
- a hemisphere that folds into a dome from the intersection of 2-3 arcs, a universal option;
- half-capacity, capacious model with parallel arcs, not reliable in bad weather.
The frame of hiking tents is made of metal (aluminum) or carbon fiber. The latter can be used for small walks.
