The concept of "hanging lakes" exists long ago in geographic terms. Sorvagsvatn - one of such lakes, while it is considered the most beautiful and amazing in the world.
Where is the lake?
Indeed, it is difficult to describe in words the beauty of this place, it simply needs to be seen. The lake is located on a high mountain cliff, almost at the edge of the cliff on the Faroe Islands , more precisely on the island of Vagar. The suspended Lake Soorwagsvatn is on a platform above the Atlantic Ocean and from a height it seems that it just flows into it. But from the ocean the lake will cut off 30 meters of rock. Its length is 6 km, and the size of the territory it occupies exceeds 3,5 sq km. The lake has a second, unofficial name - Leitisvatn. It got it thanks to a number of settled lands and their population.
What to see on the lake?
The waters of the lake flow into the ocean and form a beautiful waterfall. Unfortunately, this phenomenon is almost impossible to see, since it is in a mountain gorge. The lake is always clean water, walking on a boat you can easily see all its inhabitants. Men loved Sorvagsvatn for always successful fishing. In the summer, many ducks gather on the lake, and sometimes swans fly.
How to visit?
You can get to Lake Sorvagsvatn in the Faroe Islands by ferry or by plane. Especially for the development of tourism in 2001 the airport was built. It is located two kilometers from the village of Sorrow. The airport accepts airplanes practically from all over Europe, therefore to reach a wonderful sight to you it will not be possible.
