A single roof for the house is the most common, making it yourself, as a rule, is not very difficult. Its arrangement requires a minimum amount of building materials and skills in construction. The single-pitched roof consists of a rafter system, a roofing deck, a roofing covering and external cladding of gables and walls.
This design is suitable for a small apartment house or outbuilding. The main building material for its construction is wood.
How to properly make a roof with your own hands?
Materials and tools will require:
- rafters;
- beams;
- boards for the crate;
- nails, self-tapping screws;
- drill and dowels;
- metal corners, staples and profile;
- plumb bob;
- hammer, ax, saw.
- The structure and slope of the roof are calculated, usually it does not exceed 25 degrees. The first stage of construction is the installation of a support beam, which is securely attached to the walls of the building and the beams of the ceiling. The ends of the walls under the wood are previously covered with a roofing material. On the perimeter of the outer wall a bar is installed, which will serve as a support for the rafters.
- The beam is fastened to the wall, for this purpose holes are first made with the help of a drill. They insert metal dowels. In addition, the crate is attached to the walls by a metal profile. Between the beams in the pre-prepared nests in the walls will be installed ceiling beams overlap.
- The vertical beams on the pediment are installed along the plumb line. Outside, they are hammered by horizontal boards. To make the structure more stable from two sides at an angle, two boards (struts) are installed, which will additionally support the pediment wall. They are beaten to vertical beams and uneven bars on the wall.
- With a roof width of more than 6 meters, additional racks are provided in the middle. The support frame is mounted parallel to the pediment to the vertical slats. Between it and the front pediment is attached an additional board-spacer at an angle.
- Long rafters are made of several boards, knocked together with nails.
- Rigid rafters are mounted on support beams and frames. They are attached to horizontal beams, to the upper and lower edge of the roof with the help of metal brackets and corners.
- Side pediments are hammered. Fastening crate. It consists of boards, which are fastened to the rafters by nails. The lining is required to hold the roof finish. The technology of its creation depends on the roofing material, which is chosen for surface finishing.
- In order to cut the rafters evenly, the rope is stretched and the place of pruning is marked. Above the front pediment is the length under the visor.
- Trimmed rafters and crate by the size of the roof. The visor is hemmed. With the arrangement of rafters and crates on both sides, overhangs are being built, which will protect the walls from rain.
- Above the crate, the selected roofing is fixed according to the installation technology. Ventilated (well ventilated) is considered a roof with a slope of more than 5 degrees. If necessary, a vapor barrier film can be laid under the roof to prevent condensation. The roof is ready.
As you can see, in order to build a single-deck roof with your own hands, you need a minimum of materials and efforts. This is the simplest design, which creates a reliable coating for the structure and ensures the preservation of heat in it, protect it from the weather.
