Sagarmatha


In the east of Nepal there is the Sagarmatha National Park, which includes the mountainous regions of the Himalayas, gorges, hills and swampy impenetrable plains. Tibetans call it Chomolungma, and the English gave the mountain name Everest.

Nature of Sagarmatha Park in Nepal

The best periods for climbing Mount Everest are May-June and September-October.

Cultural heritage of the park

On the territory of Sagarmatha National Park there are Buddhist monasteries. The most famous temple is Tengboche , located at an altitude of 3867 m above sea level. The entrance to the monastery is protected from evil spirits by five statues of snow leopards.
